About the Role
We’re looking to strengthen our lean, high-performing team by bringing on a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the efficient and automated scaling of our core business functions. As COO of our early-stage InsurTech venture, you will design and implement the processes, tools, and operational frameworks that enable us to scale rapidly—without compromising on agility or efficiency.
We're seeking a strategic yet hands-on leader who can translate customer needs into streamlined, automated, and scalable solutions. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable sparring with founders and investors on company strategy as they are diving into the operational details that drive an outstanding customer experience. Specifically you will own:
Operational Excellence & Scalable Processes
- Ensure all operational workflows run smoothly and continuously optimise processes.
- Create structures that tightly align Product, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success.
- Ensure our team works with the right tools, processes, and methods to deliver top performance.
Finance, Budgeting & Cash Flow Management
- Own the business case, monitor the burn rate, and manage budgets and investments closely with the CEO.
- Responsible for tax and legal compliance, and manage external partners (accounting, tax advisors, legal).
- Establish robust finance and controlling structures that support our growth.
Customer Service & Customer Success
- Build a scalable customer support and success department to ensure a top-tier customer experience.
- Develop onboarding playbooks and customer success workflows (automated follow-ups, renewals, up-selling strategies in HubSpot).
- Set high standards for data quality to manage customer and contract data efficiently.
Business Intelligence (BI)
- Ensure BI data from our CRM (HubSpot) is accurately captured, analysed, and made accessible for Sales, Product, and Finance.
- Maintain data quality, reporting, and dashboards to enable data-driven decision-making across the company.
Team
- Implement effective collaboration and control processes (OKRs, meeting formats, internal communication) and foster a culture of transparency.
- Act as a central interface between Sales, Product, and Finance to ensure smooth internal operations.
- Work closely with the both Commercial & Technical Co-Founders & C-Suite to scale the company’s growth.
About You
- Track record of experience in an operational leadership role (e.g., COO, VP Operations, General Manager, Chief of Staff), ideally in a start-up, tech or SaaS company.
- Experience in developing and scaling automated processes and building lean high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical skills and a data-driven mindset, particularly in finance, controlling, and BI. You have outstanding attention to detail.
- Hands-on mentality: you roll up your sleeves, optimise, and drive change yourself.
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) and data-driven decision-making is a plus.
- Experience within the Insurance is highly advantageous.
- Full fluency in both English & German is required - many of our customers do not speak English, so German is necessary for your day to day work.
