We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who brings an entrepreneurial mindset, a sharp mind, and financial expertise to our team. This role is integral to driving the company’s overall strategic development, enhancing our financial performance, and ensuring we capitalize on emerging growth opportunities in the vast and evolving travel market. In this pivotal role, the CFO will oversee the functions Core Finance, Corporate Development, Internal Audit, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Legal:

• Core Finance: oversees all financial operations, including Accounting, Tax, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, HGB standards.
• Corporate Development: identifies and evaluates growth initiatives, including potential mergers & acquisitions, to strengthen trivago’s competitive position. The team oversees Treasury operations, manages our ERP system, Procurement, and Investor Relations.
• Internal Audit: oversees all corporate audit activities to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and uphold financial integrity across the company.
• Financial Planning & Analysis: drives strategic decision-making by leading financial planning and analysis to deliver accurate forecasts, budgets, and actionable insights.
• Legal: oversees legal operations to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate legal risks, and support strategic business objectives.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Leadership: Lead trivago’s financial strategy by aligning goals with the company’s overall direction, while guiding a high-performing team that promotes a culture of growth mindset, collaboration, and excellence.
• Investor Relations: Actively build strong relationships with international investors and analysts. You craft and deliver compelling financial narratives to the market, fostering trust among our shareholders.
• Business Strategy: Work closely with the leadership team to set the company’s strategic direction, applying an entrepreneurial approach to drive key opportunities and initiatives.
• Financial Closings: Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and transparency in reporting.
• Earnings Calls: Lead the preparation and execution of quarterly earnings calls, delivering clear, concise, and impactful updates to investors and analysts.

What you'll need to thrive:

• Proven success in senior financial roles, preferably with experience in publicly traded companies and investor relations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts and business dynamics to diverse audiences, including investors, internal teams, and shareholders.
• Strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset. Experience in dynamic, fast-paced environments with a focus on scaling tech or online businesses is a plus.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, HGB, and legal frameworks.
• Deep understanding of SOX compliance requirements.
• Fluency in English at a high level, both written and spoken, is essential for effective communication with our international team and external stakeholders.
