Job Description:

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Senior

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) Engineer develops innovative AI-driven solutions to solve complex problems and enhance mission processes.

Designs, develops, implements and uses machine learning algorithms and models to address business challenges and opportunities, such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, computer vision and recommendation systems.

Deliver detailed Defense CTO solutions to complex AI/ML problems as an AI/ML Engineer. Tailor cutting-edge solutions to the unique USAFE-AFAF requirements.

Support capture and proposal efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts by developing technical solutions, engaging with customers, and generating proposal artifacts.

The AI/ML Engineer provides expert support, analysis and research into large data problems and processes. Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on data-centered technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

This position is within the Defense CTO where you will work directly with European program teams to deliver mission-critical results.

What you will need to succeed:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM-related field.

Education and experience requirements may be substituted with:

  • A Ph.D. (in subjects described above) and eight years of general experience of which at least six must be specialized experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree (in subjects described above) and 12 years general experience of which at least nine years must be specialized experience.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience developing AI/ML systems, data management, cloud-based architectures, and experience working within the Department of Defense.
  • Expertise in Data Management best practices, design and engineering for large-scale data systems.
  • Ability to translate end-user’s high-level requirements into detailed analytics to be processed in SIEM, AI/ML custom and cloud-managed solutions.
  • Ability to assist in the architecture and development of a DevSecOps, CI/CD analytics development pipeline environment using in-house and Cloud-based technologies.
  • Architecting and engineering modern, federated/disparate data stores into a unified data platform including the ability to create/expose data-oriented APIs.
  • Centralized and distributed database design and engineering that supports flexible indexing and federation of query capabilities.
  • Data governance design and meta-data and data tag management with robust data encryption and data sharing capabilities.
  • Monitoring performance and capacity and advising on any necessary infrastructure changes.
  • Defining data retention policies.
  • Knowledge and use of Cloud-based technologies and techniques.
  • Experience writing proposals for the Federal Government.

  • Department of the Air Force Data Mesh experience.

Clearance: Top Secret

Certifications:

  • TESA certification required
  • DoD 8570.01M IAT II (e.g., Security+ CE) required

Preferred Certifications:

  • Data: Azure Data Engineer or AWS Certified Data Engineer or Equivalent
  • ML: AWS ML Specialty or Azure Data Scientist Associate

Travel: ~10%
