Backend Developer - Data (f/m/d)

In this position, you will be part of our Chapter Software Engineering. The chapter represents all experts who deliver essential software development and engineering capabilities to all our product teams. These experts are organized together to keep E.ON’s code base modern, secure and excellent.

The products you will be working on belong to our team Digital Solutions I Future Energy Home. This team develops and operates software to manage home energy devices such as photovoltaic, inverters, batteries, EV charging wall boxes, heat pumps and meters as a cloud-based solution for our central and local units so they can rollout those solutions to the end-customers. We integrate with numerous vendors’ devices and apply centralized insights, analytics and control mechanisms for these devices.

Meaningful & Challenging - Your Tasks

1. Build python data-intensive apps based on microservice architecture using DDD & CQRS approach within AWS cloud.
2. Implement ORMs for our energy data management backend system using libraries such as SQLAlchemy, Peewee and access databases such as TimescaleDB, AWS RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL) with Python.
3. Leverage AWS API Gateway and AWS AppSync to build energy management data products for transactional and analytical operations.
4. Support cross-functional domain data scientists to refactor their analytical apps into production-ready apps using software design patterns and principles such as Factory/Observer patterns, clean-code and SOLID principles.
5. Continuously integrate, package and test code changes into GitLab repo based on Gitflow branching strategy, with Unit Tests and BDD Integration Tests Scenarios.

Authentic & Ambitious - Your Profile

1. Several years experience in building enterprise-grade Python data-intensive applications using software best practices such as DDD, CQRS and TDD principles on AWS cloud.
2. Several years experience in SQL-based Python libraries such as SQLAlchemy/Peewee to access AWS RDS (MySQL & PostgreSQL) databases.
3. Several years of experience in AWS Services such as API Gateway, AWS AppSync, AWS IAM, AWS Cognito, Lambda, AWS PowerTools, DynamoDB.
4. Profound knowledge in building Python applications using Factory/Observer Design Patterns, Clean Code/SOLID principles, Docker & Kubernetes.
5. Appropriate communication skills and ability to help others and contribute to “Community of Practice“.
