Job Description:

Our client is a retirement planning and pensions benefit fund located in Long Island City, NY (office is very close to the subway). We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Pension Director with strong expertise in Microsoft Excel and data analysis to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for data entry, document management, and assisting with pension-related applications and remittances while also providing analytical support for financial and operational tasks. This role requires excellent organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle confidential information efficiently. This role can be an entry level (with strong internship experience) or someone with 1-3 years of experience but this person must have a relevant degree and extremely strong Microsoft Excel and overall computer skills as well as have strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform data entry related to pension calculations and applications, including entering contributions and cleaning data for accuracy.
  2. Create, format, and maintain Excel spreadsheets for tracking and reporting purposes.
  3. Use Excel for basic modeling, forecasting, and various financial-related tasks.
  4. Develop and implement Excel formulas to streamline calculations and processes.
  5. Perform data manipulation and analysis to generate insights and improve operational efficiency.
  6. Process and manage incoming remittances.
  7. Handle phone inquiries, data entry, photocopying, filing (digitally & physically), and general administrative tasks.
  8. Determine eligibility for applications.
  9. Ensure backup documents are scanned and properly stored.
  10. Assist in preparing quarterly trustee meeting packages.
  11. Provide backup support for running the weekly summary of remittances (as needed).
  12. Provide accounting support using QuickBooks.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Data Analysis, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Business, Accounting, or related fields.
  2. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel with experience in formulas, charts, and data visualization.
  3. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
  4. Experience in document filing (both physical and digital).
  5. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide insights.
  7. Strong communication skills for handling phone inquiries and explaining financial or data-related information.
  8. QuickBooks experience is a plus.
