Senior Legal Manager- Chile

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Legal Manager to oversee legal matters related to renewable energy projects, including permitting, grid access, contract negotiations, and regulatory compliance. This role will be instrumental in supporting the development and execution of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Chile. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling legal frameworks in the energy sector and a strategic mindset to navigate regulatory challenges and support business expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Permitting & Licensing: Lead the legal process for obtaining permits, licenses, and governmental approvals for BESS and PV projects, ensuring compliance with national and local regulations.
• Grid Access & Connection: Oversee legal matters related to securing grid connection approvals and ensuring compliance with interconnection regulations.
• Contract Negotiation & Management: Review, draft, and negotiate key contracts, including land agreements, supply contracts, EPC and BOS agreements, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
• Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Provide legal support in due diligence, structuring, and negotiation of M&A transactions within the renewable energy sector.
• Corporate Legal Affairs: Manage legal aspects of corporate governance, compliance, and strategic decision-making.
• Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Oversee legal disputes, arbitration, and litigation processes related to project development and operations.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Law degree with a specialization in energy, corporate, or administrative law.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years of legal experience in the renewable energy sector, including experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, and project financing.
• Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of the entire development lifecycle of PV and BESS projects, including land acquisition, environmental impact assessments, construction permits, and grid connection approvals.
• Contract Management: Proven track record in negotiating high-value contracts within the energy industry.
• Legal Due Diligence: Experience leading legal due diligence processes for renewable energy projects.
• Communication & Negotiation: Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to interact with regulatory authorities, investors, and key stakeholders.
• Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
