Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical equipment packages and material transportation in Pile Leaching Project, with management and leadership capacity in periodic interdisciplinary meetings, with the client and/or suppliers of the plant equipment, in pile areas, solvent extraction (SX), material handling (conveyors, stackers, etc.) or others, where together with other disciplines, the best technical solutions will be validated and reviewed. Executing the design, developing, modifying and evaluating mechanical components and processes with continuous interrelation with other disciplines. Their recommendations will solve technical problems and ensure that the unique and complex requirements of the mechanical aspects of a project are met.
Major Responsibilities:
- Carrying out the design of equipment and mechanical systems for projects in the mining industry, including pumps (water and solvent distribution networks), leaching process circuits, SX equipment and other related.
- Performing calculations and analysis that lead to technical design recommendations for dimensioning of mechanical equipment.
- Preparing material requests, specifications, data sheets and other technical documents related to mechanical equipment procurement.
- Participating in the evaluation of suppliers and technical evaluations of tenders.
- Coordinating with mechanical designers to produce designs and drawings according to project standards.
- Coordinating with P&ID mechanical designers to produce drawings according to the project standards.
- Coordinating the work and collaborate with other disciplines and engineering areas of the company. This involves coordinating mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialized groups, engineering disciplines, the customer, the supplier, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Developing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
- Providing technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project and customer functions, to solve complex regulatory problems with knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Providing assistance to project and construction management to identify and comply with the mechanical requirements of the project and address problems that arise during the execution of the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires degree in Mechanical Civil Engineering, and a minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in mining.
- Proven experience in sizing and selection of equipment in leaching projects, material handling systems, ponds and agitators, etc. is an essential and exclusive requirement.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the process and equipment that are considered for obtaining copper in leaching plants (mandatory).
- Field experience in the mining industry (desirable).
- Knowledge of the development and analysis of calculations of water, acid and pulp networks.
- Knowledge of developing calculations for air networks, air conditioning, tanks and fire protection systems (desirable).
- The candidate must effectively apply technical knowledge and skills to solve a variety of problems, complete tasks/assignments, and provide guidance and counseling.
- The candidate must have sufficient experience and skills to act with considerable professional autonomy.
- Advanced intermediate level of oral and written English (assessed).
