Automation Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Observe and record production operations
2. Review operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. i.e.: SMED development, ergonomics, LDR improvement.
3. Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization
4. Seek methods to improve standard operational and working practices
5. Observe workers, molding machinery, and conveyors to ensure compliance with safety standards and operating efficiency
6. Coordinate with mold set technician, department supervisors, and production personnel for parts, tooling, equipment, and machinery
7. Perform preventative maintenance on tooling and equipment as directed
8. Work with the machine attendants and supervisors in training personnel
9. Follow all safety rules and procedures
10. Drive scrap reduction on the production floor
11. Assist process engineer with optimizing cycle times
12. Ensure presses are running at optimized cycle
13. Troubleshoot injection molding machines as issues arise

Requirements:

1. A minimum of a High School diploma. Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related area and at least one year's work experience.
2. Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen experience/certification a plus
3. Good verbal and written communication skills
4. Good mathematical and organizational skills
5. Working knowledge of OSHA standards and GMPs
6. Good interpersonal skills
7. Experience and demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting skills, preferably in injection and blow molding processes
8. Ability to work for up to 12 hours at a time on Day shift or Night shift
