You will be implementing, installing, integrating and configuring our client's BI applications for their customers. Travel up to 25% across Canada may be required.
You will:
- Install and configure software technology and solutions.
- Plan and develop core application components, with an emphasis on BI (Business Intelligence) and ETL.
- Complete all levels of implementation testing, QA and troubleshooting.
- Prepare all required documentation (specifications, design, system, training).
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge in industry business and technology solutions, through self-motivated approach to continuous learning.
- Provide presentations, internally and/or with clients, as required.
- Work with sales team to identify further sales opportunities.
- Mentor other consultants as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years software installation, integration, configuration and development experience.
- Consulting experience with external clients, in competitive situations (e.g., from other Independent Software Vendor or Big 4 consulting).
- Strong UNIX experience (from a software installation and configuration standpoint).
- Knowledge of and experience with:
- One or more databases including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Sybase.
- A breadth of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe) and platforms (IBM, Sun, HP, Windows).
- Client server, and multi-tier environments.
- Connectivity issues and protocols.
- Job scheduling and event/exception management.
- Security, file systems, and common network practices.
- BEA Weblogic, Websphere, J2EE, web development.
- Metadata management and XML.
- ETL software (Informatica, AbInitio, etc).
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.University Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.It will be great if you have:
- Data Warehouse/Mart knowledge and experience is preferred, including knowledge of common industry approaches including star schema and ‘corporate information factory’.
- Proficiency in SQL and Java.
- Knowledge of Unix shell scripting.
- Knowledge of or experience with BI products and tools (e.g., Cognos, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders, CRM, Generation5, Microstrategy, Peregrine, Information Builders, etc).
