We are currently seeking experienced and safety-focused Boom Truck / Machine Operators to support railway construction, maintenance, and renewal projects across Canada. What You’ll Do
Working as part of a skilled crew, you will:
- Safely operate and maintain boom trucks (truck-mounted hydraulic cranes) on railway tracks and adjacent roadways
- Lift, move, load, and unload materials and equipment to support rail construction, track renewal, and signal & communications work
- Perform daily walk-around inspections, housekeeping, and minor equipment repairs
- Complete daily documentation including logbooks and job briefings
- Comply with CROR rules, track instructions, and all company safety policies
- Communicate clearly and effectively via radio
- Assist with manual labour as required
- Meet productivity expectations set by supervisors and foremen
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting/handling procedures
- Ability to operate equipment safely and responsibly
- Strong communication skills (listening, speaking, and writing)
- Good client service and public interaction skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivation and strong hand-eye coordination
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (asset)
- Minimum 6 months experience in the railway or construction industry
- Minimum 1 season of machine operator experience
- Valid Class D or Class A Driver’s License with Z (air brake) endorsement
- CROR certification (training provided if required)
- Basic hand tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers)
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Clear criminal record and clean driver’s abstract (preferred)
- First Aid, Fall Arrest, GEI, Forklift, or machine-specific certifications are assets (training available)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Willingness to work rotational schedules, night shifts, and travel as required
