Employment Terms: Full-Time, 10-Month Contract

The UCC Preparatory School Math Teacher will provide differentiated classroom support, co-teaching, and individual & small group instruction in Grade 6/7 classrooms. You may also provide supply coverage to Prep teachers. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a learning leader, colleagues and students is essential, as is a willingness to participate in the full co-curricular program of the school, including athletic coaching, the arts, and/or Math Café.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, curious and collaborative teacher for our Prep School Math department. Co-curricular duties are also included in this position (e.g. Math Café, coaching, and/or directing).

Academic

• Support student learning through individual, small group, whole class, and differentiated instruction;
• Co-plan extensively to ensure lessons include meaningful tasks, follow a launch/explore/summarize model, and match pedagogy outlined in verified resources;
• Support classroom management and student social-emotional needs;
• Collaboratively plan with math department colleagues, Subject Learning Leader, MYP coordinator and other subject specialists;
• Support student learning through operational tasks such as timely grading, preparing units of study, creating classroom displays, and organizing materials;
• Actively participate in faculty and collaborative team meetings, assemblies and various professional development opportunities.

Curricular, Coaching, Supervisory

• Lead with skill, passion and enthusiasm within our co-curricular program, including the arts, coaching, intramurals and Math Café;
• Supervision duty as assigned;
• UCC students benefit from a robust co-curricular program including athletics. Many teams have the opportunity to participate in weekend and CAIS tournaments. Some CAIS weekend tournaments are out of province;
• Coverage for classroom teachers, as needed;
• Fully participate in the Norval program, including overnight excursions.

Experience, Knowledge and Competencies:

• Both a Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BMa) and a Bachelor of Education;
• Teachers’ Qualifications in the Junior-Intermediate or Intermediate-Senior Grades;
• Practicum and/or math teaching experience with Junior-Intermediate students;
• Maintains accurate records, plans assessments within policies, utilizes learning management systems, and demonstrates subject matter expertise;
• Demonstrates commitment to justice, fairness, equity, and values diversity to create an inclusive community, addressing issues related to bias and prejudice;
• Possesses a collaborative disposition, excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Designs lessons to address diverse needs, styles, and interests, fostering problem-solving and lifelong learning;
• Demonstrated an ongoing commitment to personal growth and professional development;
• Experience utilizing a variety of technology tools & processes.
