Job description

At ASK Agriculture, we believe farming is more than just a job, it’s a way of life. Owned and operated by Shelley and Kevin Gunn, we’re a commercial grain operation located in the heart of western Saskatchewan. We farm over 9,000 acres with a deep commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental stewardship, all while investing in what matters most—our people, our land, and our community.

We believe in big-picture thinking, bold leadership, and a shared future where your success is our success.

Whether it’s through innovative leadership, smart agronomy, or team collaboration, we’re proud to feed the world from right here at home.

As our Farm Labourer, you’ll be a hands‑on part of the daily operations that keep the farm running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the Farm Manager and team to support production excellence, maintain equipment, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and positive work environment.

YOUR DAY TO DAY
  • Operate and maintain large farm machinery (tractors, combines, sprayers, semis, grain carts).
  • Assist with seeding, spraying, harvest, tillage, and field prep.
  • Support grain handling, storage, and quality control processes.
  • Perform general maintenance, mechanical repairs, welding, carpentry, and other hands‑on tasks.
  • Maintain equipment through seasonal prep (including winterizing) and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete daily equipment checks, logbooks, and basic record‑keeping.
  • Assist with yard work, shop organization, and general housekeeping expectations.
  • Follow all farm safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate promptly and honestly about equipment issues, breakdowns, or safety concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with the Farm Manager and team to meet daily production targets and task expectations.
  • Support proper storage, conditioning, and handling of grain.
  • Maintain accuracy in inventory tracking, moisture checks, and grain quality standards.
  • Participate in training and ongoing skill development to continuously improve performance.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Previous grain farming experience.
  • Experience operating large farm machinery.
  • Mechanical aptitude — comfort with equipment troubleshooting, small repairs, welding, or carpentry is an asset.
  • Honest, hardworking, dependable, and willing to take initiative.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Class 1A is an asset (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must have own vehicle (farm trucks available for farm use).
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • 40–60 hours per week, with overtime during peak seasons.
  • Fast‑paced environment with tight timelines and shifting priorities.
  • Year‑round outdoor work (heat, cold, dust, humidity).
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Rural/remote work setting.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
  • Starting wage of $29/hr, based on skills and experience.
  • Benefits available following successful completion of the probationary period.
  • Flexible structure: hourly or salary options available.
  • Opportunity for seasonal or full‑time, year‑round employment.
  • Work in a supportive, family‑focused environment that values honesty, learning, and growth.

We believe every employee should have the opportunity to participate and succeed. Through leadership by our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader, we are committed to a workplace culture of respect, inclusion, and diversity.
