A leading pension organization is looking for a Cyber Security Co-op Student to support their IT Infrastructure security. In this role, you will assist in incident monitoring, troubleshoot security issues, and contribute to cybersecurity awareness initiatives. The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a Cybersecurity program and have effective analytical skills. This position offers a hybrid work environment and professional development opportunities. Compensation ranges from $720.00 to $1,285.00 per week.

As a Cyber Security Co-op or Intern student, you will be a part of the greater Information Technology Operations, and Security division to provide support with network and IT Infrastructure security. The Cybersecurity team encompasses skilled communicators who are service oriented, analytical, detail-oriented, results-focused, and committed to continuous learning. The team is seeking a co-op or intern student who aligns with these key values and competencies. Training will be provided on OPTrust procedures, systems and work processes. Students will also participate in OPTrust’s orientation and campus program.
Cyber Security Incident Monitoring and Response:
Assist the Cybersecurity team in response to alerts generated by a number of security monitoring tools.
Ensure security attacks and / or intrusions are monitored and responded to timely, correlating security alert data, threat intelligence and infrastructure anomalies.
Assisting with the treatment plan of security vulnerabilities identified through vulnerability scans.
Assisting security analysts in handling security incidents.
Analyzing suspicious e-mails reported by our employees.
Monitoring various shared mailboxes for incoming questions and requests.
Cyber Security Posture Corrections and Enhancements:
Working with various internal teams to troubleshoot security issues.
Tracking vulnerability notifications and initiating actions for remediation.
Assist with the remediation of security vulnerabilities.
Assist with the corporate security patch management program.
Assist with cybersecurity posture enhancements in areas such as Identity and Access Management.
Cyber Security Awareness Education:
Designing and executing various security awareness activities.
Preparing security awareness articles and posters on various relevant topics.
Cyber Security Governance:
Assisting in the development of security reporting and metrics.
Updating and documenting various operational security procedures and diagrams.
Reviewing and updating security related asset inventory.
Reviewing configuration settings in our Cloud infrastructure.
Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate co-op program grounded in a Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field. Open to individuals who are scheduled to graduate in Spring 2026 for a new grad internship.
Knowledge or coursework in Cybersecurity Frameworks such as NIST CSF and ISO 27001:2022.
Proficient in independent work and using cloud technologies for collaboration.
Skilled in identifying technology, process and people cyber risks, and providing risk remediation treatment plans.
Critical decision-making skills, assessing options for risk remediation.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Exhibit effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Prior internship or work experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, and or Risk Management related field would be an asset.
