Client: Management Consulting Company in need of staffing multiple projects focusing on Procurement activities and Supplier management.
Role Purpose: The Cost Management Associate will be part of high-impact cost management initiatives for a key client in the power sector. The candidate will perform core tasks similar to those in other industries, focusing on power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy projects. The complexity and scale of projects in this sector can involve significant capital expenditure, regulatory considerations, and long-term project timelines, requiring robust cost management to ensure financial control. The ideal candidate has 5-15 years of experience, has spent a few years in Consulting, and possesses good knowledge of the Power sector (useful but not mandatory).
Main Tasks: Assist in preparing cost estimates for power plant construction, maintenance, and operational projects; track project expenses across multiple phases (design, construction, operation); monitor costs associated with energy generation assets (power plants, solar farms, wind farms, etc.) and track operational efficiency to ensure the project stays within budget; help with procurement processes including obtaining quotes and bids from suppliers for equipment and services (e.g., turbines, transformers, electrical systems); assist in the evaluation and selection of vendors, ensuring that the power company gets value for money while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards; identify and assist in managing financial risks related to energy market fluctuations, changes in regulations, and operational inefficiencies; collaborate with senior cost managers to help develop cost contingency plans for unexpected changes in fuel prices, regulatory changes, or project delays; help prepare cost reports for senior management, regulatory bodies, or clients covering project status, financial performance, and budget adherence.
Requisites: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related field (mandatory). Consulting attitude; 5-15 years of experience in cost management with a proven track record in the power and utilities sector. Hands-on experience managing multiple cost optimization projects with demonstrated success in delivering results in complex operational environments; Master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling tools.
Workload/Location: Full-time, Abu Dhabi on ground.
Start Date: Immediate need; the candidate needs to provide availability within 15-20 days after Engagement Confirmation Letter.
Period of Engagement: 6 months with potential for hiring.
