Job description

Our Passenger Transport client based in Pretoria West has a vacancy for an experienced Workshop Manager.
Must have knowledge of the Bus Passenger Industry.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal applicant will possess the following:

  1. A minimum of Grade 12 (Std. 10) or equivalent academic qualification.
  2. A post matric qualification in the technical / N4 engineering field.
  3. Qualified Diesel Mechanic is a prerequisite. (Other Artisan trade qualifications will also be considered).
  4. At least 5-8 years working experience in heavy duty vehicle maintenance.
  5. At least 2 years in a Management position in a unionised work environment.
  6. Proven track record in vehicle fleet management.
  7. Proficient in MSOffice software and relevant experience in Maintenance Computer systems.

JOB OUTPUTS

  1. Assist in managing the Technical Budget.
  2. Oversee maintenance to the vehicle fleet.
  3. Manage maintenance of facilities, tools and equipment.
  4. Control workshop tools and equipment.
  5. Manage Engineering Administration functions.
  6. Supervise Workshop Personnel and identify developmental needs.
  7. Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations are adhered to in the workshop.
  8. Monitor Asset Register.
  9. Liaise with Manufacturers and Suppliers to ensure optimal service delivery.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Will be required to work long and late hours and sometimes over weekends and standby.

  1. Knowledge of the bus passenger transport industry.
  2. Knowledge of the Technical / Engineering practices and procedures as they relate to the operation and maintenance of a large bus fleet.
  3. Understanding of the bus operations and the interrelationship with the Technical department.
  4. Knowledge of the Key financial management Principles & Procedures, especially budget management.
  5. Knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures and related legislation.
  6. Knowledge of the Labour Relations Act and associated company disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  7. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  8. Knowledge of stock management procedures and stores management.
