Job description

Strategic Workforce Planning Consultant

  • £350 – £400 per day (outside of IR35)
  • 3 – 6 months
  • Hybrid
  • East London
  • ASAP Start

We are seeking a Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) Consultant to join on a short-term basis to create and implement a strategic workforce planning framework that will support the organisation’s evolving needs. This critical role involves working closely with senior stakeholders to align workforce strategy with organisational goals while upskilling our HR team to sustain the process beyond the contract term.

Key Deliverables:

  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Organisational Capability and key stakeholders to design and implement a strategic workforce framework.
  • Facilitate workshops with directors and senior leaders to align workforce strategies with business objectives.
  • Upskill HR team members to ensure they are equipped to progress and maintain the framework independently.
  • Provide actionable workforce insights by analysing internal data and conducting external horizon scanning for trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build tools and processes that support effective decision-making and scenario planning.
  • Drive alignment across divisions to integrate workforce planning with operational and performance strategies.

They Need Someone Who Can:

  • Hit the ground running: Quickly understand our unique needs and deliver immediate impact.
  • Bring people together: Comfortable engaging with directors and senior stakeholders to build consensus and drive action.
  • Wrap their arms around the challenge: Provide hands-on leadership in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Act strategically, not long-term: Help us address urgent workforce planning priorities without locking us into rigid, long-term plans.

What You Bring:

  • Extensive experience in strategic workforce planning, ideally in a consultancy or specialist role.
  • Proven ability to design and implement frameworks in medium-sized organisations, ensuring sustainability through capability-building.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to interpret data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leadership teams.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to solving complex challenges.
