Location: In office in Bellville South, Cape Town

We are seeking a talented WordPress Developer with a strong foundation in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about web development, have excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role involves both the development and maintenance of our web presence to enhance user experience and achieve strategic business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and Development:
   1. Develop and maintain high-quality, user-friendly websites using WordPress.
   2. Create and customize WordPress themes and plugins.
   3. Write clean, scalable, and efficient code in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
   4. Ensure cross-platform optimization and responsiveness of applications.
   5. Collaborate with team members to design and implement new features.
2. Content Management:
   1. Manage and update website content using the WordPress CMS.
   2. Ensure content is visually appealing and formatted correctly.
   3. Implement SEO best practices to improve website visibility.
3. Training and Support:
   1. Train junior marketing staff on how to upload content, perform basic on-page SEO, and manage website updates.
   2. Provide ongoing support and guidance to team members regarding website management.
4. Maintenance and Updates:
   1. Perform regular updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
   2. Conduct regular reviews to ensure backups are being taken correctly and that all servers are performing optimally.
5. Website Security:
   1. Ensure website security by implementing and maintaining security measures.
   2. Monitor for and protect against security vulnerabilities.
   3. Implement and update SSL certificates.
   4. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
   5. Respond promptly to security incidents and breaches.
6. Server Maintenance:
   1. Manage hosted server environments to ensure optimal performance.
   2. Conduct regular server performance reviews and maintenance.
   3. Ensure proper backup procedures are in place and functioning.
   4. Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues.
   5. Collaborate with hosting providers for advanced troubleshooting and support.
7. Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
   1. Optimize websites for on-page SEO, including keyword placement and meta tags.
   2. Improve site speed and performance to enhance user experience and search rankings.
   3. Fix technical SEO issues such as broken links and crawl errors.
   4. Ensure proper URL structure and sitemap management.
   5. Implement best practices for internal linking and content optimization.
8. Collaboration and Communication:
   1. Work closely with designers, developers, and project managers to deliver projects.
   2. Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
   3. Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and development.
9. User Experience and Accessibility:
   1. Ensure websites are accessible and compliant with web standards.
   2. Optimize websites for different devices and browsers.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Web Developer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of WordPress, including theme and plugin integration.
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks.
• Demonstrated understanding of CSS and HTML.
• Experience with themes and plugins is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with DNS management and troubleshooting.
• A track record of excellent customer service, ideally in a technical support role.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Experience working in a remote setting, with strong self-management and communication skills.
