As we expand our operations, we are searching for a qualified Wind Mechanical Supervisor to join our team for the Impofu Project in Kouga, South Africa, scheduled from January to August 2025.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee various aspects of our wind energy project. The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of the Impofu Project, providing technical guidance, leadership, and expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, with specific experience in wind turbine maintenance and supervisory roles.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight: Lead and supervise mechanical operations on-site during the construction and commissioning phases of the Impofu wind energy project, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate a team of mechanical technicians and engineers, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to enhance team performance and efficiency.
Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control processes and standards to ensure all mechanical activities meet regulatory, safety, and project specifications.
Maintenance Management: Develop and oversee mechanical maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, and repairs of wind turbine components to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in all mechanical operations, fostering a culture of safety awareness among team members.
Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on mechanical activities, project progress, and maintenance issues, presenting them to project management and stakeholders promptly.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical and civil engineers, contractors, and project managers, to ensure smooth project execution.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and problem-solving expertise during mechanical challenges that arise in the projects, applying industry best practices and innovative solutions.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical supervisory role, preferably within the renewable energy sector or specifically with wind energy projects.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, wind turbine technology, and maintenance procedures. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration.
Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated capability to analyze mechanical issues and implement effective solutions swiftly.
Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations pertaining to mechanical work in the renewable energy sector.
