Description

Investec Sandton is seeking a Full Stack Platform Engineer with a strong focus on web technologies. This role is integral to the development, maintenance, and advancement of our web platform, ensuring seamless integration and functionality for all users within the organisation.

As a Platform Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to enhance and optimise our web platform. You should have expertise in both frontend and backend web development, leveraging modern frameworks and tools to create scalable and efficient solutions. While mobile development skills are beneficial, they are not mandatory for this role.

Experience, Skills and Capability

1. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
2. Developing and maintaining web applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
3. Implementing best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to ensure robust and secure solutions.
4. Conducting code reviews and providing feedback to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
5. Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading software as necessary to meet evolving needs.
6. Working closely with stakeholders to define roadmaps and align development efforts with business objectives.
7. Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement within the platform, contributing to the organisation's technical strategy and enhancing the overall engineering experience.

Note that this position does not involve direct reporting lines; the Platform Engineer collaborates with the Team Lead to achieve project goals and drive innovation within the respective area.

Skills and Experience

1. Software development related certification or tertiary degree in the relevant field is required.
2. ± 5 Years development experience in a cross section of application environments where at Investec we focus particularly on: React Native, .NET, C#, MSSQL Server, Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Azure Active EntraID, HTML5, Typescript, Angular, SCSS, Bootstrap 5, Redux, RX, Docker, All Testing Paradigms and Test Automation.
3. Understanding of the fundamental design principles behind building scalable applications.
4. Experience in building, signing and deploying iOS and Android apps.
5. Involved in architecting fit-for-purpose solutions and making complex technical and design decisions for projects.
6. Ability to conceptualize the big picture while retaining a high level of attention to detail.
7. Help teams refine scope to deliver features in a reasonable time.
8. Experience with Azure or building cloud native solutions is beneficial, but if not, will be learned.
9. Experience in integrating with telephone-based systems is additionally advantageous.
10. Data engineering experience would be an added advantage.
11. Experience practicing TDD is also beneficial.
