The role of this particular position involves overseeing the operations of the water treatment plant at the Abattoir.
Minimum Requirements
National Senior Certificate will be essential.
A relevant qualification such as environmental science, chemistry or related field will be an advantage.
At least 3 years’ experience in water treatment operations, including experience in supervisory or managerial position.
Experience in processing/production within a Chicken Abattoir environment will serve as preference.
Ability and willingness to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and public holidays.
Sound knowledge of water treatment processes.
Analytical problem-solving ability.
Must be able to perform under pressure and work independently with minimum supervision.
Leadership and people management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer literate.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Perform regular inspections and tests on water samples to monitor the quality of the treated water.
Maintain accurate records of wastewater treatment plant operations including daily logs, test results, chemical usage, maintenance activities, and water meters.
Analyse data and trends to identify issues or potential improvements in the wastewater treatment process and implement necessary corrective actions.
Respond to emergencies or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize disruptions to the wastewater treatment process and prevent any impact to the environment.
Collaborate with maintenance staff to coordinate plant maintenance activities.
Maintain chemical inventory.
Maintain excellent housekeeping.
Responsible for working in a safe manner to ensure safety and the safety of others.
Perform other tasks, activities and/or duties as assigned by your manager.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in wastewater treatment technology and regulations to ensure continuous improvement in plant operations.
