Our client based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg is seeking an Operation Supervisor to join their team.
This will be a 3-month contract.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the warehouse operations at their Johannesburg Branch.
As the second-in-command (2IC) to the Branch Manager, this role ensures the smooth flow of daily operations, effective stock management, and adherence to safety and efficiency standards.
This position is ideal for a proactive individual with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support (2IC to Branch Manager)
- Assist the Branch Manager in managing daily warehouse operations.
- Ensure seamless coordination between inventory, receiving, and dispatch teams.
- Implement and enforce operational procedures to improve efficiency.
- Identify and address operational challenges, escalating concerns when necessary.
- Warehouse Supervision
- Oversee receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Monitor stock levels, cycle counts, and minimize discrepancies.
- Ensure the warehouse meets safety, cleanliness, and operational compliance standards.
- Work with logistics and drivers to ensure on-time deliveries and collections.
- Team Leadership & Support
- Provide daily guidance and support to warehouse staff.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Ensure employees follow company policies and performance expectations.
- Assist in training and mentoring team members as needed.
- Reporting & Compliance
- Track and report on warehouse performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational standards.
- Identify and escalate operational challenges and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- Experience in a supervisory or senior team leader role within a warehouse, logistics, or operations environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management, stock control, and logistics processes.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems or ERP software is an advantage.
- A hands-on, team-oriented approach with a proactive mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or inventory management tools is beneficial.
