A vacancy exists for a Warehouse Manager in Westmead to manage and oversee all warehouse activities, ensure efficient processes, and maximise warehouse productivity and space. The Warehouse Manager needs to coordinate logistical processes, ensuring smooth workflow and reducing bottlenecks and minimising shrinkage. The incumbent would be required to spot trends, highlight risks and implement operational policies and procedures where needed. Role reports to the National Warehouse and Logistics Manager.
Responsibilities:
Supervise warehouse staff and daily activities
Fleet maintenance
Maintain warehouse safety and security, Inventory control and accuracy
Optimize space utilisation - organising and managing the storage of stock at overflow facility
Co-ordinating workflow with Warehouse, Receiving and Floor supervisors
Ensure daily checks are being done
Ensure proper stock rotation is being done as per FIFO method
Manage departments and ensure smooth workflow
Identify issues that could lead to bottlenecks
Increase warehouse productivity
Spot checks and cycle counts to be performed
Ensure vehicle daily checklists done daily by drivers
Investigate any issues raised on the checklist
Schedule any repairs and services with supplier
Monitor drivers' behaviour on Cartrack
Optimize space utilisation - organising and managing the storage of stock at overflow facility
Ensure receiving department and stock controllers are clearing the put-away section in a timely manner
Planning space - ensure sufficient space available for incoming containers
Communicate with other departments and identify stock which can be sent to overflow facility to optimise space
Stock management of overflow facility
Develop and train warehouse staff
Keep detailed records of warehouse activities for monthly reporting
Logistics and Reverse Logistics costings and scheduling
Health and Safety
Ensure water readings and checklists are being done
Complete monthly overtime registers for payroll
Assist with stock takes
Requirements:
Matric and computer literacy (minimum)
Degree in Logistics, Business or Management (preferred)
Previous experience in IR
Experience in route planning and fleet maintenance
Sound knowledge of KZN area
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Time management skills and ability to delegate
Excellent leadership and organisational skills
Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations and management
Previous experience as a warehouse manager or similar management position
Market related salary. Starting date is as soon as possible.
