Warehouse and Distribution Manager is a commercial customer-facing role that has overall responsibility for the management of the DKW site in Ladysmith. This role has responsibility for the overall performance of the distribution center. Plans, organizes staff, directs, and controls all office and warehouse activities. Assists senior management in establishing warehouse performance objectives and standards. The role has accountability for achieving prescribed company objectives about cost, productivity, accuracy, and customer service. Responsible for managing all aspects of customer requirements including, but not limited to, inventory accuracy, shipping, receiving, P&L responsibility, rate requirements and development of incentive programs.

Responsibilities:
Profit and Loss:
- P&L responsible for all site
- Site performance (cost / utilization)
- Continuous improvement and optimization of assets
- Investment proposals and follow-up on the same
Operations:
- Ensures the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing physical facilities, human resources, and equipment in a profitable manner.
- Plans, directs and implements warehouse operations, procedures and support to meet prescribed productivity and service levels.
Labor Management:
- Directs the operation of the Warehouse Team to achieve prescribed objectives and standards.
- Develops and maintains a productive, motivated work force by ensuring effective hiring, training and development of distribution center associates.
- Creates programs to counsel and discipline employees as prescribed by the company’s code of conduct.
- Provides timely and appropriate performance reviews to all direct reports and ensures the same is done for all associates.
Customer Service:
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with all customers (internal and external).
- Establishes programs to improve customer awareness at all levels in the organization.
- Maintains records and reports to ensure customer service levels are being met.
- Develops and maintains strong partnership with customers and vendors to achieve financial results.
Other Duties/ Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Ensures all customers objectives and standards are met regarding inventory accuracy.
- Has accountability for the inventory assets of the facility as it pertains to loss/damage.
Safety/Housekeeping:
- Develops, implements, and maintains appropriate programs to ensure that all safety and housekeeping standards and objectives are met.
- Ensures compliance to regulations regarding safety certification of forklift drivers, and OSHA guidelines.
Equipment and Facility:
- Procures equipment and facility preventative maintenance services to assure efficient operations of all facets of the distribution center.
- Maintains suitable equipment and services to assure security of customer and company assets.
- Performs job related duties as specified by management.
- Mentors, coaches and provides continuous feedback to colleagues.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management)
- 10+ years in a Warehouse / Distribution Centre management role passionate about engaging and serving customers
- At least 5 years leadership experience especially with growth mindset
- Strong ability to translate commercial strategy into execution plan
- Understands the competitive landscape, and can adjust approaches to customers as a result
- Proven track record of strong performance delivery
- Confront contradictions with mature communication and problem-solving skill
- Well-developed, confident communication, persuasiveness, influencing, presentation and negotiating skills
- Self-motivated and performance-driven; strategic thinking with both short- and long-term planning skills; strengths in time management with regards to managing multiple objectives and priorities
- Able to achieve results through close cross-functional collaboration.
