Ward Clerk | Sessional Position

A vacancy has arisen for a sessional Ward Clerk position (1 week of orientation and 4 months’ work) reporting to the Unit Manager, Melinda Verwey. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication, and administrative support.

Position: Ward Clerk | Sessional Position

Critical Outputs

1. Ensure optimal service levels whilst understanding and striving to achieve targets.
2. To ensure the speedy and effective execution of non-nursing activities.
3. Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
4. Ensuring a safe environment in all areas of the unit through staying up to date with safety standards and protocols.
5. Knowledge of emergency plans and actions.
6. Elimination of medico-legal risks through the correct identification and filing of patient documentation.
7. Maintenance of a positive appearance and behavior, within and outside hospital relations.
8. Friendly and helpful client service.
9. Live up to the Quality principles.
10. Professional secrecy and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
11. Ensuring effective communication between customers and colleagues.

Requirements

1. General administrative experience – at least 1 year.
2. Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) is essential.
3. Coordinating of bookings and patient transport.

Competencies

1. A person who is result-oriented, pays attention to detail, and has excellent interpersonal as well as communication skills is needed.
2. Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently, and time management are required.
