Description

At 2U, we are all in on purpose. The Vice President, Student Engagement will provide executive leadership and direction to our admissions and student engagement organization.

The desired candidate will be responsible for teams across both admissions and student success functions servicing multiple universities and will be one of several Vice Presidents working as a team to deliver for all students across university programs.

The role will oversee the development and execution of strategic student lifecycle policies and initiatives, collaborate with business unit General Managers and key department heads to receive input necessary to formulate policy and strategy, manage University relationships and ensure student outcomes and business goals are met.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and policy level direction to the Admissions and Student Engagement teams to achieve the highest level of outcomes across the prospective student and student lifecycle as well as achieving business goals.
  • Push down authority to their Directors to facilitate their development and execution of policy and strategy to deliver a superior student experience.
  • Develop high performing teams and managers by promoting career development, mentoring, and setting appropriate performance expectations.
  • Facilitate communication with General Managers and other functional executive leadership to ensure all admissions and student engagement policies and strategies are aligned with key business initiatives.
  • Identify internal and external forces impacting, and innovations within, the student lifecycle and that improve student outcomes while efficiently running the business.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 8+ years proven success leading and motivating teams across multiple channels/lines of business.
  • Proven ability to lead teams across functions and across multiple stakeholders, with staff in multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to drive results in a high energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Graduate level degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business concepts, practices, procedures.
  • Proven ability to develop, motivate, and retain a high performing team.
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change.
  • Record of success in building and sustaining effective partnerships with executive level professionals.
  • Confident data driven decision-making abilities and a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Proven success in a matrix management environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  • Action orientation and confident presence on the admissions and student engagement floors.
