UX / UI Designer Intermediate reporting to the UX / UI Design Team Lead located in Centurion, Pretoria.

The Intermediate UX / UI Designer plays a crucial role in enhancing user experiences across both desktop and mobile platforms.

This position involves translating user needs and business requirements into engaging and functional designs, including wireframes, prototypes, and final UI designs.

The designer collaborates closely with the UX / UI Lead and development teams to ensure innovative and cohesive interfaces that meet high standards of usability and aesthetics, ultimately contributing to the advancement of our technology management systems.

Job Purpose
As an Intermediate UX / UI Designer at IoT.nxt, you will be expected to bring a blend of creativity and technical expertise to our various products.

You should have a strong understanding of user-centred design principles and be adept at translating user needs and business requirements into engaging, intuitive, and functional designs.

Your role will involve creating wireframes, prototypes, and final UI that enhance user experience across desktop and mobile platforms.

Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a collaborative spirit are essential, as you will be a key player in delivering exceptional user experiences that align with our company's vision and goals.

The designer will collaborate closely with the UX / UI Lead, Product Owners, Product Specialists, and development teams to ensure cohesive and innovative interfaces that meet the highest standards of usability and aesthetics.

Key Result Areas
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define and implement innovative solutions for product direction, visuals, and user experience.

1. Create user wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and mobile applications.
2. Develop user flows, journey maps, and personas to understand and address user needs and pain points.
3. Develop and maintain design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency across all products and platforms.
4. Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions.
5. Stay up to date with the latest design trends, techniques, and emerging technologies.
6. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
7. Iterate on designs based on feedback from stakeholders and user testing.
8. Ensure the technical feasibility of UI / UX designs and work closely with developers to implement them.
9. Monitor and analyze user feedback and analytics to continuously improve the user experience.
10. Advocate for user-centred design principles and contribute to a culture of design thinking within the organization.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Educational Background: Advanced certifications in UX / UI design, graphic design, or related disciplines. Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Systems, or related field can be advantageous.

Work Experience: 4 years of experience in UX / UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing your work. Experience in UX / UI design within technical environments such as IoT, SCADA, or related fields would be advantageous. Experience working in an Agile / Scrum development environment.

Knowledge & Skills:

1. Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, and Adobe XD.
2. Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and best practices.
3. Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for detail.
4. Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
5. Ability to communicate design concepts effectively to various stakeholders.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
7. Passionate about creating exceptional user experiences.

1. User-Centric Design: Ability to understand user needs, behaviours, and motivations to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
2. Wireframing and Prototyping: Proficiency in creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and mock-ups to visualize and test design concepts before implementation.
3. Design Tools: Proficient in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar software to create high-fidelity designs and prototyping.
4. Interaction Design: Understanding of interactive design principles and the ability to create engaging user interactions.
5. Visual Design: Strong visual design skills with an eye for aesthetics, layouts, color theory, and typography to create visually appealing interfaces that align with brand guidelines.
6. Information Architecture: Ability to organize and structure information effectively to optimize user navigation and accessibility.
7. Usability Testing: Experience in conducting usability tests, gathering feedback, and iterating designs based on user testing results to improve the overall user experience.
