Job description

Town Planner position available in Chintsa, Eastern Cape.

Seeking an experienced Town Planner to support the planning and development of RDP housing and clinic projects in Chintsa, Eastern Cape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for zoning and rezoning applications, land use investigations, and ensuring compliance with planning regulations to facilitate the successful implementation of the project.

Candidates that meet all requirements and are available to start by no later than 20 March 2025 are invited to apply.

Salary: R40 000 – R45 000 CTC per month (Negotiable).

3-year Fixed Term Contract.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Town / Urban Planning or a related field.
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in human settlements, housing sectors, and land use planning.
  • Registered with SACPLAN as a Professional Planner or Technical Planner.
  • Proven experience in zoning and rezoning applications, spatial planning, and land use investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of South African planning legislation, municipal frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, public participation processes, and government liaison.
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping, planning software, and report writing.
  • Ability to work with government authorities, engineers, and project managers to ensure project success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee zoning, rezoning, and land use applications to ensure project compliance.
  • Conduct land use investigations and feasibility studies for the development of RDP housing and clinics.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal and national planning regulations.
  • Collaborate with government authorities, stakeholders, and project teams to obtain necessary approvals.
  • Provide technical advice on town planning, urban development, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Prepare and submit planning reports, site development plans, and regulatory documentation.
  • Engage in public participation processes and consultations with affected communities.
  • Support project execution by ensuring spatial planning and land use requirements are met.
