Job description

Purpose

Responsible for maintaining and repairing customer owned tooling, aiding in troubleshooting tooling issues, as well as creating simple fixtures and any other duties as requested by the Plant & Facilities Manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assessing/diagnosing problems and implementing corrective modifications to injection moulds.
  2. Maintaining adequate repair supplies, tracking and recording repairs, modifications and inventory.
  3. Conducting change over and maintenance of production moulds and peripheral equipment.
  4. Supporting production needs through enhancing and upgrading existing production moulds.
  5. Debugging new tooling and offering design enhancements as required.
  6. Operating all types of tool room equipment required to manufacture inserts as needed.
  7. Assisting in the reviewing new products and moulds for design for manufacturability.
  8. Assessing and advancing the development of current standards and practices.
  9. Autonomously planning and scheduling own daily tasks, developing solutions to problems.
  10. Ability to read and interpret die, mould, and product drawings.
  11. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  12. Identifying complex tooling issues and effectively finding solutions.
  13. Fabricating and maintaining a variety of tools consistent with standard tool configuration.
  14. Making new parts for existing moulds using sketches, blueprints and CAD models.
  15. Aiding in the preventative and routine maintenance of tooling and moulds.
  16. Using precise measuring equipment to hold medium and tight tolerances.
  17. Working efficiently under pressure.
  18. Following maintenance procedures and recording data.
  19. Working effectively with the quality department and all stakeholders for continuous improvements.
  20. Maintaining optimal mould performance by identifying mould performance issues.

Excellent mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Requirements:

  1. Relevant qualification or equivalent.
  2. 3 – 5 years relevant experience in Plastic Injection Moulding in a tool room environment.
  3. Proficient in all tool room machinery and equipment including, lathes, mills, EDMs, grinders, etc.
  4. Experience with High gloss parts/tools.
