Toolmaker

Position: Toolmaker Level 2 OR Level 3

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of technical drawing and use of computer-aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)

Skills:

• Computer Skills Office.
• Strong level of English.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Good hand-to-eye co-ordination.
• Accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent maths and IT skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assembling, fitting, and repairing tools.
• Following engineering drawings to measure and mark out the design for the tool.
• Using hand tools such as files, hacksaws, and grinders.
• Using machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines, and grinders to cut and shape the tools.
• Using 2D and 3D CAD/CAM software.
• Using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and vernier calipers to check the tool's dimensions.
• Monitoring tools on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or improvements.
• Attending to machine breakdowns to identify and solve problems.
• Assisting with tool maintenance and compiling necessary maintenance reports.
• Ensuring workplace organisation and cleanliness.
• Maintaining facilities, equipment, and machines in good repair.
• Proper segregation of waste.
• Reducing consumption for positive environmental impacts.
• Raising awareness of environmental impacts.
• Analysing and optimising existing manufacturing processes and tools.
• Implementing changes in manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality, and safety.
• Performing any ad hoc duties required by the department.
