Registration with the South African Nursing Council

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a comprehensive primary healthcare service which is always preventative, curative, promotive, and rehabilitative and has an administrative component
Deliver a holistic health approach and do various monitoring programs/tests, looking after the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the employee in his work environment
Conduct pre-employment and pre-placement medical examinations
Implement periodic screening and surveillance programs
Perform exit/termination medical examinations to establish the state of health of the employee that could have been influenced by the exposure to his work environment
Treat and follow-up on IOD (injury on duty) cases and assess whether the employee is medically fit to resume duties after IOD
Provide treatment services for non-work-related illnesses and injuries
Conduct health education in general, including HIV/AIDS education on a one-to-one basis
Provide pre-and post-test counseling for HIV testing
Administrate health services which includes
Record-keeping
Statistics
Sick leave administration
Medicine control
Injury on duty (IOD) management
Using medicine/dressing materials and other equipment in the most cost-effective and caring manner without changing the high standard of healthcare delivered
