Job Position: Temporary Occupational Health Nurse

Ref: 4950

Location: PE/Gqeberha

Salary: R53000 to R69000 per month commensurate with experience

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Diploma in Nursing Science
  • Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • Minimum: 2 years relevant experience in nursing

  • Knowledge of the nursing process, i.e:

Key Performance Areas:

  • The role of the Occupational Health Nurse is to provide a comprehensive primary health care service which is always preventative, curative, promotive, rehabilitative and has an administrative component.
  • Deliver a holistic health approach and conduct various monitoring programs/tests, looking after the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of the employee in their work environment.
  1. Pre–employment and pre–placement medical examinations
  2. Periodic screening and surveillance programs
  3. Exit/Termination medical examinations to establish the state of health of the employee that could have been influenced by the exposure to their work environment
  4. Treatment and follow up of IOD (injury on duty) treatment and assess whether the employee is medically fit to resume duties after IOD
  5. Provide treatment services for non–work related illnesses and injuries
  6. Health education in general, including HIV/AIDS education on a one-to-one basis
  7. Providing Pre–and Post-test counseling for HIV testing
  8. Administrative duties include:
  • Record keeping
  • Statistics
  • Sick leave administration
  • Medicine control
  • Injury on duty (IOD)
  • Using medicine/dressing materials and other equipment in the most cost-effective and caring manner without compromising the high standard of health care delivered
