Qualifications / Requirements:

1. National Diploma/National N Diploma in Mechatronics/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering qualification
2. Minimum 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in the Press/Automotive maintenance environment
3. 3 to 5 years industry related experience (preferably at an automation integrator)
4. Ability to analyze and correct any deviation of machine performance from the manufactures specification
5. Extensive experience in a PLC controlled systems environment including Profibus, Profinet, Profisafe and Interbus diagnostics, Industrial Ethernet diagnostic and SCADA programming and diagnostics
6. Ability to perform under pressure
7. Knowledge and ability to read electrical drawings – hardware and software
8. Robotic experience essential
9. High proficiency with test equipment for fault finding
10. Be a driven, self-starter, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
11. Be methodical, organized and thorough
12. Be able to work in confined spaces and work at heights
13. Good communication skills
14. Be prepared to work shifts, weekends and overtime
15. Computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
16. Press shop experience would be an added advantage

Key Performance Areas:

1. Take ownership and responsibility for the automation considerations during project implementation as well as operational performance of the automation systems including failure analysis and optimisation analysis
2. Implement the necessary corrective and countermeasures to resolve production stoppages and faults
3. Analyse and document all severe breakdowns and stoppages to prevent reoccurrence and retain the knowledge
4. Correcting various mechanical, electrical and electronic faults on machines in order to ensure production continuity
5. Assess breakdowns and develop alternative solutions to prevent occurrences
6. Ensure machine availability, accuracy and performance for continuous production within area of responsibility
7. Plan and develop modifications for conventional relay equipment to PLC equipment on various machines in order to reduce maintenance costs
8. Support production with new facility installations and commissioning to ensure proper functionality
9. Resolve robotic electronic communication faults by adjusting the robotic program to prevent reoccurring robot communication faults and ensure uninterrupted production process
10. Analyse programmable logic controller programs for the purpose of modifying and find faults on the machines and equipment
11. Execute improvement projects in Press Shop
12. Perform on the job training with maintenance personnel
13. Compile and write work instructions for equipment
14. Be able to upgrade existing systems and equipment to latest technology levels to improve productivity
