PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
An Onsite Traka Technician needs to perform several tasks set out to them on a task system. An onsite Traka Technician will be required to work with explosives key management and locks (Cliq, Traka, and Videx). Responsibilities include pulling reports and providing onsite support to the customer. Monthly inspections, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment are essential, as well as performing repairs noted on inspection sheets. After hour calls and support must be adhered to. This role requires reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals, running tests to make effective recommendations. The technician will be required to work shifts, namely Morning shift and Night shift, and will interact with stakeholders to drive maximum productivity and client centricity.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
The main duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Installation and replacement of Traka Equipment and peripherals
- Setup, assemble, test and configure Traka Hardware and Software
- Following direction of the Project / Installation Manager
- Maintenance and submission of accurate paperwork and documentation
- Customer communication throughout the job
- Installing conduit, coring, or trenching
- Installing/pulling cable and wire
- Mounting panels, field devices, computers, power supplies
- Programming, setup, and testing systems
- Testing and inspections
- Safe operation of basic electrical reticulation
- Understanding wire crimping and installing basic plugs
- Basic use of hand tools
Support Responsibilities
Hardware Support:
- Preventative Maintenance – Monthly visits for all covered systems items
- Maintenance of all Traka variants, Key management systems, and lockers
- Physical checks on Traka locks and explosives cars/cassettes and surface boxes
- Installation and replacement of Traka hardware
- Setup, assemble, test, and configure Traka systems
- Competent use of tools and associated electrical tools such as drilling machines, electric screwdrivers, etc.
- Cleaning of control boards and reconnecting all connections
- Cleaning and testing of all data fobs, connector strips, and solenoids
- Emergency release of keys in case of an emergency
- Physical check on control boards, keypads, screens, and wiring
- Cleaning and servicing of locks
Software Support and Customer Support:
- Daily report to Production Managers, Mine Overseers, and Safety Department
- System reports and help for miners and operators before shift starts
- Email, Telephone, and Remote Support
- Research/problem solving and obtaining relevant signatures for invoices
- Onsite training and completing maintenance checklists
- Programming of Cliq keys as per completed approved forms
- Frequent checks on Traka software versions and updates
- Diagnostics tests on Traka Touch systems
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a low voltage technician or similar role
- Experience with LAN/WAN networks
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
- Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
- Mining Experience will be an advantage
- Underground work will be an advantage
- 2+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Software Skills:
- Basic understanding of Windows-based computers and software
- Basic understanding of databases and networking
- SQL database experience and knowledge
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Proficient in database programming and software installation
Identify and solve problems independently, plan and organize effectively, and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision. Work both independently and in a team environment.
