PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
- Maintenance technical support, supports Services tenders & projects in the Engineering area.
POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION:
- Main office located in Nigel (Ekurhuleni) at the production site
- May also be required to visit suppliers and other Alstom sites/offices

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Supply engineering resource/skills to support tenders and projects.
- Collaborates with Services Engineering and Platforms to improve the Services portfolio of products and services.
- Participates actively in the Services Engineering network.
- Assures the technical support to the projects.
- Optimises the scope and related tasks of the Maintenance plan.
- Supports cost reduction actions, with sourcing and industrial.
- Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems.
- Proposes innovative solutions and develops and implements R&D programs and new technologies in the maintenance projects.
- Analyses the technical performances of the systems and the efficiency of the maintenance plan and processes, promoting action plans to improve them.
- Proposes actions to optimise Maintenance plans and LCC.
- Searches for improvement actions in maintenance operations, performing engineering interface activities with Operations Engineers (depot support).
- Promotes the use of latest maintenance techniques and R&D developments (CBM, RCM, Lean).
- Participates in the REX process.
- Analyses failure criticality studies and uses RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) and other available methodologies to define and optimise the maintenance requirements, tasks and intervals.
- Analyses and integrates data coming from Operations (Return on Experience).
- Manages interface with other Product Lines’ Metiers.
- Improves Services Engineering tools & processes.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
- TD, QCD, PMC, Project reliability / availability / cost targets
- Feedback from stakeholders
EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES & REQUIRED COMPETENCES:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
Mandatory:
- 1-3 years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering
- Knowledge of rolling stock equipment
- Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance
- Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
- Proficient in the use of MS Office
- Problem-solving capacity (technical and costs evaluation of a solution)
- Capacity of managing Technical risks
- High Interpersonal, Communication and negotiation skills
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work independently
- Desire to learn
- Effective, professional interpersonal skills
- Strong team player
