INTERNAL /EXTERNAL ADVERT

Preferably Quantity Surveying and or Construction Management/Civil Engineering, with verifiable exposure in electrical works, project management, and site.

Extensive knowledge of built environment and electrical works pricing.

Good verbal and written communication skills, decision-making skills, relationship building, management, teamwork, problem-solving, planning, organizing, and control skills.

Ability to speak, read, and write at least two of the 11 South African Languages, with one vernacular language as an advantage.

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Assist contractors in developing effective workflow programmes.
  2. Identify suitable development programmes for all National Construction Incubator clients, utilizing planning tools approved by National Construction Incubator.
  3. Assist and lobby for more work with client departments within the province.
  4. Prepare reports on financial and technical activities for presentation at Manco meetings.
  5. Technical Mentor - Gauteng: Develop and provide access to systems to enhance programme management role of NCI.
  6. Assist with packaging projects and awarding to contractors in the programme.
  7. Create linkages with both material suppliers and financial institutions.
  8. Facilitate handover of contractor’s profiles and performance reports.
  9. Provide technical mentorship support and tools to contractors in the programme.
  10. Facilitate workshops for contractors as part of mentorship support.
  11. Conduct skills assessment audit for contractors in the programmes and develop intervention plans.

The core business of National Construction Incubator (NCI) is to develop emerging construction businesses through the infusion of technical and business administration skills so that construction SMMEs can be sustainable in the long term, leading to significant job creation and a positive contribution to the South African economy. In order for NCI to achieve this objective, the above vacancy has become available. Suitably qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. Please note the incumbent will be based in NCI – Gauteng offices.

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Civil Engineering or Building with 8 years’ experience. BTECH/Degree will be highly preferable in Civil Surveying with 5 years’ experience (with emphasis on electrical knowledge).

Construction Health and Safety experience (Compliance, Training, and Application).

Be registered with SACPCMP or ECSA or ASAQS as a technician or technologist.

Driver’s License, code 8 or code 10, and own vehicle.

Ability to speak, read, and write at least two of the 11 South African Languages, with one vernacular language as an advantage.
