Technical Manager: Operations and Management (Renewable Energy)

Job Description

A leading renewable energy developer is looking for a Technical Manager for their Asset Management department. This is a qualified and skilled position requiring overall responsibility for managing the group’s O&M division, which includes setting up management systems, reporting to stakeholders, administering O&M contracts, managing onsite personnel, overseeing procurement & logistics

Minimum Requirements

1. Engineering degree, preferably Electrical.
2. Minimum 5-10 years strong and proven technical experience in a South African infrastructure operation and maintenance environment.
3. Proven track record of leading, managing and training high-performance operational and diverse teams.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the OHS Act and applicable regulations.
5. Knowledge and application of relevant compliance requirements with complex contractual entities.
6. Evidence of managing stakeholder relationships at this level required with senior relationships in the REIPPPP industry (e.g. DOE, NERSA, Eskom, commercial banks) preferred.
7. Detail oriented, with a drive to establish and follow processes.
8. Understanding of PV system design, operation, and key commercial and business drivers.
9. Knowledgeable in the systems, processes and protocols guiding the operations and maintenance of utility PV solar plants and electrical systems.
10. MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
11. Willingness to travel.

The following, in addition to the above, would be advantageous:

1. Professional Engineering Registration with ECSA
2. Government Certificate of Competence (GCC)
3. Experience as a GMR 2(1)
4. Experience in the management of or the operation and maintenance of wind farms
