YOUR ROLE

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) role entails having direct contact with customers, mainly focused on all technically related topics regarding the production and filling of final B2C products. This also includes support during production trials, filling, and troubleshooting, both during and after production. This role can therefore be seen as the interface between Sales and Application, R&D, and the BU’s regarding product selection for opportunities, as well as project control in respect of new developments and applications.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing projects in collaboration with Application & Sales and continuous project management.
  • Providing support on recipe formulation and filling technology.
  • Being technically an integral part of the team for all customer projects as required.
  • Driving product solutions along the different LtO-stages in close collaboration with Sales.
  • Delivering suitable product solutions in line with the given requirements into LtO for customers, depending on technical requests, potential/strategic aspects, and our existing portfolio.
  • Being the central point of contact for all technical production/processing concerns from the customers (technical call center) thus handling technical issues in the production of B2C products at the customer site.
  • Supporting selected customers with trials and approvals and taking part in customer visits in collaboration with Sales.
  • Addressing technical problems on product and production-related issues and simplifying processes at the customer’s premises.
  • In collaboration with the customer, defining technical recommendations of action following an appropriate analysis of the customer’s production challenges.
  • Ensuring an optimum exchange of information within the division and with the interfaces.
  • Documenting efficient and effective processes in the company's internal IT systems.
  • Compiling production guidelines and mixing recommendations at the customer's request.
  • Providing active support in case of internal and external complaints concerning issues in site production in collaboration with Quality.
  • Supporting business unit service & solutions in the co-packer and bottling network.
  • Preparing & conducting internal and external training sessions in collaboration with technical, sales, and other functions.
  • Data management.
  • Reporting (Controlling).

YOUR EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • BSc Food Science / ND in Food Technology / BTech in Food Technology / Production Technology or related qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years’ previous work experience in a product development/application/production position in the Food & Bev Industry with a focus on Beverages – Juices, nectars, juice drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks, CSDs, low and high ABV, still drinks, functional beverages.
  • A solid understanding and problem-solving capability in formulating and producing with compounds (juicy, non-juicy, energy, etc.).
  • Project Management experience.
  • Manufacturing processes & Product understanding.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable in legislation of beverages across the Sub-Saharan terrain.
  • Experience in SAP will be advantageous.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Tasting a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Africa and the other African regions that are serviced by Paarl.
