As an ongoing recruitment effort and to build a talent pool, Trafalgar Birdhaven is offering an exciting new opportunity for a driven, dynamic and proactive candidate with a passion for the property industry, to join their team as a Tax Practitioner. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, possess great attention to detail and work well under pressure.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Tax Compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
- Ensuring tax compliance on E-filing.
- Keeping up to date with changes/updates on relevant Acts.
- Ensuring correct registrations were done.
SARS
- Raising of queries/disputes.
- Submission of objections and appeals.
- Manage and submit SARS audits and reviews.
- Booking of appointments.
- Changing PO details and registering buildings.
- Removing PO from Off Admin buildings.
- Understanding and adhering to SARS procedures and deadlines.
- Handle all VAT and PAYE registrations.
Taxation
- Prepare and submit the annual income tax return with reference to the audited financial statements.
- Prepare and submit the monthly or bi-monthly VAT return with reference to the Unibase VAT report and exception reports where applicable.
- Quarterly request a SARS statement of account and ensure no outstanding returns, payments, or refunds.
- Review Tax Calculation done by auditors to ensure accuracy.
- Capital Gains tax management.
- Compiling tax calculations for signature clients.
General
- Daily review of email/correspondence/queries and attendance and resolution of same within a 24-hour time period as far as possible.
- Continuous meetings with accounting teams, branch manager and departmental managers.
- Provide substantial knowledge on SARS Efiling processes.
- Staying updated on evolving tax regulations.
Monthly EMP201
- Receive payroll data from the HR managers on a monthly basis.
- Review the data to ensure correctness.
- Capture on the Qdocs workflow.
- Follow up with Accountants on the submission of the EMP201’s and the push payments.
- Ensure the payments are processed by the HR managers on STD Bank.
- Resolution of PAYE, UIF & SDL queries and liaising with the accountants to resolve in the month.
Minimum Experience required:
- Matriculation.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a taxation division.
- BCom or higher qualification.
- Should be a member of a recognized accounting Board such as SAICA/SAIBA/SAIPA.
- Previous property sector experience is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- CIPC profile advantageous.
