Job description

We are looking for a Tailings Assurance Coordinator to join Group Internal Audit and Assurance (GIAA) and support in our Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) catastrophic hazard campaign audits.

The Tailings Assurance Coordinator will report to the Head of Assurance Planning, Reporting and Operations and will support the Tailings Audit and Assurance Manager.

We offer a unique insight into Glencore's worldwide business and will also fully support you in your professional development. GIAA applies innovative practices to provide assurance and consulting services to the company's stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing technical and administrative support to HSEC catastrophic hazard campaign audits.
  • Organising Independent Tailing Review Board (ITRB) meetings, maintain the ITRB calendar, track meeting readiness and document upload, take minutes and update tracking systems.
  • Tracking, quality control and processing of Tailings and Dams Assurance Workbooks.
  • GISTM Disclosure Factsheets tracking of uploaded and reviewed evidence.
  • Tracking of audit reports and corrective actions.
  • Maintenance of action tracking systems and tailings databases, including data entry tasks.
  • Integration and execution of the new campaign audit methodology.
  • Data analytics and risk assessments.
  • General and ad hoc administrative duties.


The ideal candidate
  • Demonstrated track record in collating, managing and reporting geotechnical/mining data sets.
  • Flexible to work in a global team across various time zones.
  • Good team player with a can-do and positive attitude.
  • Well-organized and efficient working style.
  • High facilitation, analytical and negotiation capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relationship building skills both including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, highly pro-active and resilient attitude.
  • Comfortable at performing recurring/repetitive tasks.


Minimum Requirements
  • Higher, Advanced or Diploma in Civil, Geotechnical or relevant discipline (minimum NQF level 6 qualification).
  • 2 years' experience in a similar role in the civil/geotechnical/mining industry.
  • Fluency in English (corporate language) with any other language (French, Spanish, Russian and/or German) advantageous.
  • Advanced MS Office knowledge (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, SharePoint, and DocuSign).
  • High level of attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving.
