Job description

Job Purpose:

The System Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing IT solutions to support the operations and business needs of ABSA’s Retail and Business Banking (RBB) Credit and Cash Division. The incumbent will work closely with business and IT stakeholders to enhance system capabilities, improve efficiency, and ensure seamless integration of technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document system requirements for credit and cash management solutions.
  • Design and implement system enhancements to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Analyse existing IT systems and recommend improvements, integrations, and upgrades to meet business needs.
  • Work with software developers, database administrators, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure accuracy and performance.
  • Support the deployment of new system features and provide post-implementation support.
  • Ensure compliance with IT governance, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, process flows, and user manuals.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to end-users and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance system capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a System Analyst role within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of banking systems, credit and cash management applications, and digital banking solutions.
  • Experience with system development lifecycle (SDLC), business process modelling, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in database management, SQL, and system integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing, API development, and enterprise architecture.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, IT risk management, and cybersecurity best practices.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

  • ITIL, TOGAF, or equivalent IT governance certifications.
  • Agile or Scrum certification is an advantage.
  • Certifications in system analysis or software development (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA).
