Job Description: To provide specialist high-level technical advice, high-level problem resolution of complex problems, system security and policy implementation monitoring.

Are you someone who can:

1. Deliver customer experience excellence in own service delivery aligned to organisational values and service standards.
2. Install, configure and upgrade PostgreSQL instances.
3. Optimize database replication and high availability strategies.
4. Troubleshoot database issues and resolve performance bottlenecks.
5. Perform database backups and recovery procedures.
6. Ensure system, process and efficiency improvements (including innovations).
7. Provide specialist high-level technical advice for high-level problem resolution of complex problems by monitoring system security policy implementation.
8. Assess, identify, and mitigate potential risks within the IT system engineering environment and comply with governance in terms of legislative, audit and business policy requirements by drafting policies and procedures for the System Engineering Environment.
9. Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation.
10. Manage systems by setting threshold measurements for capacity and infrastructure upgrades and suggest changes.
11. Manage the system efficiencies by suggesting and implementing efficient system changes based on research of new and existing technology to align with business needs.
12. Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity.
13. Manage own development to increase own competencies.
14. Obtain and sustain in-depth system/application knowledge to maximize contribution to the role.
15. Monitor system health, resource utilization and performance metrics.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

1. Have a related degree/Diploma.
2. Have related certifications.
3. Have a minimum of 3 years System Engineer experience.
4. Have a minimum of 3 years PostgreSQL experience.
5. Have intermediate Linux skills including installing, patching and managing Linux servers in a production environment.
6. Have experience in automating tasks using tooling such as Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
7. Have SQL, query analysis, indexing and schema design skills (advantageous).
