Job Description: To provide specialist high-level technical advice, high-level problem resolution of complex problems, system security and policy implementation monitoring.

Responsibilities:

1. Deliver customer experience excellence in own service delivery aligned to organisational values and service standards.
2. Installing, configuring, and upgrading PostgreSQL instances.
3. Optimizing database replication and high availability strategies.
4. Troubleshooting database issues and resolving performance bottlenecks.
5. Performing database backups and recovery procedures.
6. Ensure system, process, and efficiency improvements (including innovations).
7. Provide specialist high-level technical advice for high-level problem resolution of complex problems by monitoring system security policy implementation.
8. Assess, identify, and mitigate potential risks within the IT system engineering environment and comply with governance in terms of legislative, audit, and business policy requirements by drafting policies and procedures for the System Engineering Environment.
9. Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration, and innovation.
10. Manage systems by setting threshold measurements for capacity and infrastructure upgrades and suggest changes.
11. Manage the System Efficiencies by suggesting and implementing efficient system changes based on research of new and existing technology to align with business needs.
12. Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity.
13. Manage own development to increase own competencies.
14. Obtain and sustain in-depth system/application knowledge to maximise contribution to the role.
15. Monitoring system health, resource utilization, and performance metrics.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

1. Have a related degree/Diploma.
2. Related Certifications.
3. Minimum 3 years System Engineer experience.
4. Minimum 3 years PostgreSQL experience.
5. Have intermediate Linux skills including installing, patching, and managing Linux servers in a production environment.
6. Automating tasks using tooling such as Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
7. SQL, query analysis, indexing, and schema design skills advantageous.
