Sustainable Agriculture Graduate Trainee

GreenCape is looking to recruit a proactive, motivated graduate trainee who is aspiring to a future in the sustainable agriculture sector. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical work experience and work with experts in the field. The hiring team will select the successful graduate to join and gain experience and skills working on various projects. The candidate must have a passion for the South African agricultural sector.

The sustainable agriculture programme’s goal is to increase job creation and investment in green technology and services that support the agricultural sector. We achieve this through a number of different activities: We perform demand creation activities (such as supporting farmers to adopt sustainable technologies and practices) and we provide support to the sustainable agriculture sector (such as collecting and disseminating market intelligence and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship).

This is a full-time contract position, until 31 March 2026. There will be a three-month probation period for this position.

Required Skills

1. Strong research, analytical, and report writing skills, with the ability to assist in preparing high-quality reports, publications, and documents for funders.
2. Ability to engage with stakeholders and support event coordination effectively.
3. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
4. Critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to prioritise tasks are essential for success in this role.
5. Proactive, independent, and curious, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team’s goals.
6. A solid understanding or interest in sustainable agriculture practices and current trends in the sector would be an advantage, though not required.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to support team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
