Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Supply Management Specialist with extensive knowledge of managing materials and supplies, developing plans to manage material and supply requests, and knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of managing large supply units to include inventory, ordering, receiving, storing, and transporting goods and assets.

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this Supply Management Specialist (Supply Unit Leader) position, you will manage the implementation of materials and supply requirements. Typical assignments include:

  1. Analyzing and adjusting inventory/restock levels.
  2. Ensuring that subordinates receive materials and supplies in accordance with established procedures while communicating stocking levels and inventories to subordinates.
  3. Function as the supervisor for the Supply Unit and report up to the Support Branch Director as appropriate.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

This may include a credit check after initial job qualifications are determined, a review of financial issues, such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Travel will be required.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • Selective service registration is required for males born after 12/31/59.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. To qualify for this Supply Management Specialist (Supply Unit Leader) position at the IT-02 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IT-01 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following:

  • Creating inventory processes to track supply levels and/or future supply needs.
  • Monitoring the delivery of materials and/or supplies to customers.
  • Resolving customer complaints and/or internal issues.

OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level education leading to such a degree or LLB. or J.D., if related OR Combination of education and experience.
