Job Purpose: To fulfill the revenue and sundry debtors' function at CPUT in line with the Institutional, financial and other policies and processes and relevant legislation and regulations. To ensure that debt collection capabilities are maximized in respect of sundry debtors.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Two (2) years relevant experience in a debtor's environment

Recommendations:

  • Debtors experience within a higher education environment and knowledge of ITS
  • A National Diploma (3-year qualification) in a Business Studies field with Accounting as a subject

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:

  • Generate invoices on the ITS system
  • Compile a Sundry Debtors Register
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders
  • Follow up on outstanding debt
  • Assess outstanding debt in line with the Prescription Act 68 of 1969
  • Administer the Emergency Fund
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Fee Structure
  • Compliance with all institutional policies and procedures

Ad hoc tasks:

  • Administer the Debit Order system
  • Perform a Credit Control function at Registration
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act and Prescription Act
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Client liaison and customer service skills
  • Computer Literacy incl Excel and financial software packages
  • Planning and organizing
  • Teamwork
  • Working under pressure/Stress tolerance
