Our client in the Food Manufacturing Industry is a family business, established in the late 80’s. They are looking for a Strategic Maintenance Engineering Manager that will be responsible for developing and managing budgets, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Workshop whilst playing a key role in developing and implementing, short, medium and long-term strategies. The ideal candidate will be expected to review the Workshop workflow and determine strengths, weaknesses, operational effectiveness and opportunities, eventually making recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks and formulate plans to achieve an organization's long-term goal. The role will also be responsible for developing and managing relationships with key vendors and suppliers. The Strategic Engineering Maintenance Manager will continue the implementation and execution of a Strategic Engineering Maintenance Plan, to ensure the business assets can successfully achieve their life cycles. The role will be responsible to oversee and collaborate on all capex projects to ensure they align with the business strategies for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate Strategy into Operations
• Oversee the day-to-day functions in a Workshop
• Draft and implement performance standards for a whole Workshop Department
• Develop and create processes for a smooth and efficient running of a Workshop Department
• Align departmental goals, processes, and resource allocation with the organizational strategy
• Assess Supply Chain vulnerabilities and make recommendations for improvements
• Conduct analysis of Operations data and make recommendations for improvements based on findings
• Develop and manage budgets for operational activity
• Familiar with laws, regulations and standards to ensure compliance
• Evaluate current operational procedures, identify inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvements
• Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback to help the employee improve
• Identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
• Implement new technologies and systems to streamline operations and actively drive CAPEX projects across the business
• Manage KPI’s and develop metrics to assess performance and identify areas of improvement
• Participate in strategic sessions with other members of management to discuss long-range goals and objectives
• Implement strategies for containing costs, reducing risk exposures, improving efficiencies, and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Compile reports and presentations on operational activity for executive teams
• Present findings, do projections and recommend actions (job costings, PO gaps, stock management) to various stakeholders in the business
• Review reports on Supply Chain activities, to ensure they meet company needs and standards

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Advanced Microsoft Office and especially, Excel skills
• SQL knowledge (advantageous)
• Experience using data analytics to solve business problems
• Minimum of 5 years in a similar role with a proven track record of developing and executing Operational Strategies
• Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Development Studies, or in related field, or equivalent experience

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Krugersdorp, Gauteng: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Preferred)
