Stoma and Continence Nurse Educator: Cape Town, Western Cape

Coloplast has an opportunity for a Stoma Care and Continence Nurse to join our South African nursing team.

As a registered nurse, this individual provides clinical expertise through education and training for self-intermittent catheterisation, pre-and post-operative management of ostomates as well as managing relationships with referring doctors to establish confidence in the Coloplast Value Proposition and the Clinical Team.

Major Areas of Accountability

1. Maintain professional credentials and education to maintain status as a clinical expert through board certification as a nurse.
2. Act as a clinical liaison to ostomates regarding planned surgical procedures, the impact of living with a stoma, and ostomy care.
3. Train on the technique of self-intermittent catheterisation of patients according to the referral of the professional.
4. Provide referring specialists or healthcare professionals with feedback regarding the progress of patients referred.
5. Conduct clinical health checks to drive compliance with treatment plans and protocols prescribed.
6. Maintain correct patient records and submit these according to Coloplast systems.
7. Set up new clinics for follow-up visits for end users.
8. Deliver education programs to a diverse group of internal and external customers and end users.
9. Attend approved national and regional conferences and tradeshows as a Coloplast representative.
10. Report back to senior leadership key clinical learnings and opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

1. Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree.
2. 2+ years’ experience in a clinical setting working with patients and/or end users.
3. Previous medical industry experience is an asset.
4. Domestic travel required.
5. Must permanently reside in the greater Cape Town area.
