Stoma and Continence Nurse Educator: Cape Town, Western Cape

Coloplast has an opportunity for a Stoma Care and Continence Nurse to join our South African nursing team.

As a registered nurse, this individual provides clinical expertise through education and training for self-intermittent catheterisation, pre-and post-operative management of ostomates, as well as managing relationships with referring doctors to establish confidence in the Coloplast Value Proposition and the Clinical Team.

Major Areas of Accountability

• Maintain professional credentials and education to maintain status as a clinical expert through board certification as a nurse.
• Act as a clinical liaison to ostomates regarding planned surgical procedures, the impact of living with a stoma, and ostomy care.
• Train on the technique of self-intermittent catheterisation of patients according to the referral of the professional.
• Provide referring specialists or health care professionals with feedback regarding the progress of patients referred.
• Conduct clinical health checks to drive compliance with treatment plans and protocols prescribed.
• Maintain correct patient records and submit these according to Coloplast systems.
• Set up new clinics for follow-up visits for end users.
• Deliver education programs to a diverse group of internal and external customers and end users.
• Attend approved national and regional conferences and tradeshows as a Coloplast representative.
• Report back to senior leadership key clinical learnings and opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with a bachelor’s degree.
• 2+ years’ experience in a clinical setting working with patients and/or end users.
• Previous medical industry experience is an asset.
• Domestic travel required.
• Must permanently reside in the greater Cape Town area.
