Job description

The Steel Sales Specialist role will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  1. Sales and Business Development: Responsible for developing sales & acquiring new customers as per the sales plan designed to realize budget. Executes daily sales activities, monitors progress, and checks work and processes in terms of execution, workload, and quality. Actively cultivates a positive and constructive work climate to safeguard the organisation's continuity.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Marketing: Develop and maintain a strong relationship and network with engineering firms, construction companies, government agencies, etc., in order to:
  • Identify new/upcoming projects at home and abroad.
  • Introduce new products and solutions.
  • Identify and investigate technical market trends.
  • Develop, in consultation with the client, innovative foundation solutions on major infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure that all involved in the design process are aware of the latest developments in steel foundation solutions.
  • Ensure market intelligence and guarantee that all current and future foundations projects are identified and actively followed.
  • Promote AM Steel Foundation Solutions to end-users, engineering companies, and contractors to ensure they are the preferred option for all stakeholders.
  • Implement the latest technical developments in regular training seminars to update all engineering companies and end-users/authorities.
  • Provide detailed market analysis, monitor competition, and follow up on new market tendencies.
  • Ensure regular contact with, visiting and guiding design and consulting engineers, providing technical design assistance in early design stages, and updating on new developments in the ArcelorMittal product portfolio and R&D.
  • Generate commercial offers/budgetary offers, negotiate and close sales by agreeing on conditions and terms with customers and suppliers.
  • After Sales: Offer after-sales support and handle techno-commercial claims (where appropriate with backup from the central team).
  • Communication & Interaction with Other Departments: Advise management on plans and policies, highlighting consequences and/or required actions. Maintain functional relationships with production, project management, procurement, BD, F&C, QA/QC, human resources, and IT on daily operations, exchange of information, knowledge, and experience.
  • Responsible for management reporting.
  • Participate pro-actively in the Local Sales Team meeting.
  • Health and Safety / Environment: Ensure that all activities are executed in a safe way.

    The Successful Applicant: A successful Sales Specialist should have:

    1. Experience in construction; marine construction is an added bonus.
    2. Engineering qualification preferred, but not mandatory.
    3. At least five years of experience.
    4. Experience in the sales or construction market is advised.
    5. Portuguese proficiency would be advantageous (spoken).
    6. Willingness to travel at least 2 weeks every month.
