Job Summary

To imbed effective Operational Risk Management (ORM) practices within the Business Unit (BU) and to effectively implement Absa Group ORM policies and framework. Contribute to establishing and maintaining an integrated and effective risk management framework where risks are identified, quantified and managed on a consistent basis via the specialised risk management execution framework. Provide technical ORM expertise and advice to Leadership and all stakeholders in the BU.

Job Description

Key deliverables will be to:

  1. Coordinate key activities to sustain a Satisfactory Control Environment, involving coordinating activities of Principal Risk and related Sub Risks subject matter experts to keep the risk profile within acceptable thresholds.
  2. Manage the critical process refresh exercise, driving issues management and risk event management.
  3. Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Lessons learnt for material risk events/issues and monitor business remediation.
  4. Identify, assess, and report key risks arising from significant events, investigations, audit, and control issues.
  5. Run appropriate risk governance forums and report on risk outcomes as necessary.
  6. Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including first line of defense (1LOD) colleagues in business, Principal and Sub risk SMEs, second line of risk partners in Risk and Compliance functions, and internal audit and other assurance providers.
  7. Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure monitoring of the key risks facing the business.
  8. Drive adherence to applicable Policies, Procedures, and Regulations.
  9. Drive any risk deliverables required to demonstrate that the business is embedding ORRMF, Conduct Risk, and Fin Crime Risks.
  10. Promote risk and control awareness and work with stakeholders to develop and embed the understanding of the importance of risk and mitigation plans.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Internal Audit, Risk Management (Required)

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in an Operational Risk Environment.

Education

Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
